About SiteMapr
Founder & operator
Bilal
Bilal is the founder and operator of SiteMapr. He built the tool after years of frustration with sitemap generators that were either paywalled, ad-stuffed, or capped so low they were useless on real sites. He maintains the crawler, writes the guides on this blog, and answers support email personally.
Why I Built SiteMapr
SiteMapr started as a personal frustration. Every time I needed a sitemap for a side project, I ran into the same wall: free generators capped at 100 URLs, paid tools demanding a monthly subscription for what should be a one-off task, or browser-based crawlers that crashed on anything bigger than a blog. The job is not complicated — visit URLs, follow links, write XML. So I wrote my own and put it online for free.
The principle has not changed since: every website, whether it belongs to a solo blogger, a small business, or a large e-commerce store, deserves the best chance of being discovered in search engines. That starts with a properly formatted XML sitemap, and it should not cost anything to generate one.
SiteMapr is completely free, requires no sign-up, and has no hidden paywalls. You enter a URL, the crawler does its job, and you download your sitemap. The site is supported by ads so I can keep it running without charging users.
What SiteMapr Does
SiteMapr is an online XML sitemap generator that crawls your website and produces a complete, standards-compliant sitemap file ready for submission to search engines like Google, Bing, and Yahoo.
The crawler visits every accessible page on your website, respects your robots.txt rules by default, and compiles the results into multiple export formats including XML, TXT, and CSV. The entire process takes just seconds for most websites.
- Fast Crawling: The crawler processes hundreds of pages in seconds using parallel requests and intelligent queue management.
- Robots.txt Compliance: By default, SiteMapr respects your website's robots.txt rules, ensuring ethical and responsible crawling.
- Multiple Export Formats: Download your sitemap as XML (industry standard for search engines), TXT (simple URL list), or CSV (for spreadsheet analysis).
- Configurable Depth and Scope: Set maximum pages, crawl depth, and choose whether to include subdomains for full control over the crawl.
- Real-Time Progress: Watch the crawl happen in real-time with a live progress indicator showing discovered URLs and current status.
- Continue Crawling: For larger sites, continue where you left off to crawl beyond the initial batch without starting over.
Editorial Standards
Every guide on the SiteMapr blog is written and reviewed by Bilal personally. The articles reflect hands-on experience with the crawler and with submitting real sitemaps to Google Search Console — not generic SEO copy. When Google updates its sitemap or indexing guidance, the affected articles get a dated update rather than a silent edit.
If you spot something out of date or wrong, email [email protected] and it will be fixed.
Why Sitemaps Matter for SEO
Search engines like Google use web crawlers to discover and index pages across the internet. While these crawlers are sophisticated, they can miss pages that are deeply nested, poorly linked, or brand new. An XML sitemap acts as a direct communication channel between your website and search engines, ensuring every important page has the opportunity to be indexed.
Google itself recommends sitemaps for websites with more than 500 pages, new websites with few backlinks, and sites with rich media content. Submitting a sitemap through Google Search Console can significantly accelerate the indexing of new content and help maintain comprehensive coverage of your site in search results.

How It Works
Enter Your Website URL
Paste the full URL of your website into the generator. SiteMapr will begin from this starting point and discover all linked pages.
Configure Your Crawl (Optional)
Optionally adjust settings like maximum pages, crawl depth, subdomain inclusion, and robots.txt compliance to tailor the crawl to your needs.
Generate and Monitor
Click Generate and watch as SiteMapr crawls your website in real-time. The progress bar shows discovered URLs, current crawl status, and estimated completion.
Download Your Sitemap
Once the crawl is complete, review the results and download your sitemap in XML, TXT, or CSV format. Upload the XML file to your web server and submit it to Google Search Console.
Privacy and Data Handling
SiteMapr does not store the URLs it crawls or the sitemaps it generates. All data is processed in real-time during your session and discarded when you leave the page. The site does not collect personal information beyond what is necessary for the service to function, and data is never sold or shared with third parties.
